The Lower School Administration is excited to announce The Great Gryphon Reading Challenge. The Reading Challenge will be held from February 1- February 28, 2025! This exciting time supports and cultivates our school's mission in an appreciation for beauty, a love of goodness, and a devotion to truth.
We want to continue encouraging students to read whole books and foster a love of lifelong learning. Our goal is for students to grow in their reading stamina and excitement to explore more books!
Reading Challenge Packet
Please check your student’s folder for the Great Gryphon Reading Challenge packet. This contains all the details for the upcoming month. Please read through it carefully.
We would love for parents to join us in encouraging students to read and track their minutes! Here are a few ways you can help:
✔️ Set aside family reading time.
✔️ Encourage reading during car rides and commutes.
✔️ Remind students to take their books with them wherever they go!
Book Drive – Help Us Fill Our Libraries!
Our goal is to continue filling our classroom libraries with high-quality and classical books. Each teacher has created an Amazon Wish List to make donating easy!

We’ve planned a fun-filled February to make this an enriching experience for all students. Here’s what to look forward to:
📚 All-School "BookWorm Buddies" Reading Stamina Hour – With a popcorn treat!
📖 All-School Book Drill
📸 Favorite Book Character/Author Dress-Up Day
🏆 Weekly Reading Prizes – Every Friday!
🔹 Orange, blue, and gold bracelets awarded based on minutes read.
🔹 Top reader in each class wins a gummy worm prize!
🍕 Pizza Party – For the classes (K-2 & 3-5) that read the most minutes!
🎖️ Winning teachers will receive $100 for their classroom libraries.
🍦 Ice Cream Bar Party – For the top readers in K-2 and 3-5!
📚 Book Shopping Spree & Lunch – With Mrs. Deutsch and Mrs. Leeds for the TOP READER (student with the highest minutes for the month)!
